Day Project- How We Transformed A Bathroom Into An Oasis

The “Day Project” was a bathroom redesign. Our goal was to take this dated bathroom and give it a modern look and feel. A bathroom should be a place of luxury and peace, not an eyesore. The home itself is a mid-town 1960’s era home- so we wanted to incorporate some of the retro feel- but bring in a modern look. With some strategic color placement and design updates, this remarkable makeover turned a previously uninspired bathroom into a serene and relaxing retreat. We were able to perfectly blend style and functionality while also meeting the homeowner’s goals. The result is a beautifully modern space that provides an inviting escape after a long day. Read on to see how we managed this Tulsa bathroom remodel.

The Goal for the Tulsa Bathroom Remodel

In this remodel the homeowner wanted to renovate their dated bathroom into a relaxing retreat. The renovation was started due to a leak, which forced the bathroom tile to be replaced and they ended up being miss matched. The goal was to create a serene space, while still making the most of their space. They also desired a large spacious shower to relax in. In addition to the shower tile being miss matched, the old shower doors needed to be replaced, as well as the countertop, toilet, and light fixture.

Here’s What We Did With This Project

We transformed the existing dated bathroom into a luxurious, spacious, and relaxing refuge for the homeowners. We gutted the bathroom and started on the existing plain white wall color. The walls were updated with a fresh coat of paint. The paint color was Sherwin Williams Iron Ore which gave a moody transformation and masculine look. On the wall with the vanity and toilet we added a feature wall by putting floor to ceiling charcoal tile for dimension and drama. The floors were updated from the existing dated tile to a brand new porcelain tile that looks like wood flooring. This gave the room an updated feel and a water resistant floor.

The Shower

In the shower we removed the dated, mismatched tile. We replaced it with a culture marbled groutless shower and a glass enclosure. This option provided a more sleek and open look. To pull together the masculine and moody feel of this bathroom- we included black framing and fixtures on the shower. The sleek changes and the glass enclosure took this shower from looking dated and small- to a shower that is open, spacious, and clean. This shower fits perfectly with the rest of the updates.

The Mirror & Light Fixture

The previous mirror was big and clunky which added to the “enclosed” feeling of the space. That is why we updated the existing mirror and replaced the light fixture over the sink to include modern accents of white and champagne bronze to give this bathroom a luxurious feeling. The mirror also tied in some of the homes’ original retro vibe while still keeping things modern. The light fixture was kept as a white shade to help lighten the space, and we used warm light bulbs in the lamp to add to the cozy, warm, relaxing feeling.

The Vanity

The existing bathroom sink, tile counter top, and cabinetry was damaged, outdated, and not functional. So we gutted it all and added a beautiful free-standing vanity cabinet and a white countertop to tie everything together. The faucet for the sink was also updated to match the updated black shower faucet. And the existing toilet was updated to a brand new chair height toilet.

The warm tones of the lights, flooring, cabinet, and champagne bronze accents add a cozy feeling. This makes the black and white contrasting colors of the bathroom feel like a relaxing oasis. The black accents provide a feeling of luxury while the white shower and countertop makes this small space feel more open. With all of our remodels/redesigns at Emerald House Design Co., we focus on the design side of our client’s projects. We want the space to be functional, but also beautiful. This project was no different. We were able to update and redesign this bathroom in such a way that the bathroom looks larger and spacious. That is the power of choosing the right fixtures, colors, and furnishings.

A Remarkable Tulsa Bathroom Remodel

This remarkable transformation shows how strategic design and thoughtful details can turn a dated bathroom into a modern and luxurious space. We replaced the old shower tile with a white, groutless shower, accented with sleek black details and a clear glass door. This created a modern and inviting space. Updates to the mirror, light fixture, and sink area, along with cozy wood look flooring and modern cabinetry, further enhanced the serene ambiance. Warm tones and champagne bronze accents added a cozy and luxurious feel. The decorative black brick accent wall tied the design elements together, making the small bathroom feel both expansive and elegant. Now, the homeowner can unwind in their beautifully renovated oasis, enjoying the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation every day.
